This fort is a must visit - well equipped with audio-guides in several languages such as English, German, French, etc as well as acceptable food. This visit will give you an excellent insight into the history and culture of Rajasthan and is thus a good start to the trip. Best time to visit Rajasthan is in winter – November to January, as Rajasthan is quite hot throughout the other months. This fort is one of the biggest in India and is easily accessible by road (the best option is to rent a car). While in Rajasthan, listening to the traditional folk music is a must – almost all hotels in the state offer live music during the evenings. Although the traditional Rajasthani cuisine (very different from the Tandoori food available in Indian restaurants here) is delicious, it is a shame that it is not easily available – ask your hotel if they can especially prepare it for you. Definitely worth a visit – made me feel like a princess!
