nice enough place but be prepared for lots of touts as the place is full of them - been all over India and this is the worst by far for that sort of thing. Also be prepared for blatant racism - foreigners pay 10 times more to enter the palce just because of the colour of their skin. plus point though is thearket - well worth a visit for the colours and smells alone.

(Report Problem)Take time to visit the Mysore Palace, the inside during the day and bathed in light from 7:00 pm onwards. The Tipu Sultan summer palace outside Mysore is a letdown however. Foreigners are charged some 20 times in entry fee and what you get are some faded printed pictures. The Mysore fortress is in ruins and they should consider preserving it.

(Report Problem)Mysore is a look back at the yester years of India. The grand palaces, museums with some great art, the immense KRS dam fullfilling the needs of thousands of farmers and the magnificient gardens take back visitors down memory lane of what this place once was. Any tourist will not be disappointed with what this city has to offer. If you have time, go to nearby reserve forests, Bandipur or Nagarhole to catch some rare wildlife. Cauvery Nisargadhama nearby has some beautiful cotages and fishing. Hotels and restaurants of all rates are in plenty. Make sure to enquire in tourist offices in Bangalore for all details before going.
