As a food lover and someone who dines out a lot i was mightily impressed by what Zen had on offer. On most visits (in a reasonably large group) we have opted for a banquet of the chefs choice... the results are fantastic with an exciting range of foods, beautifully presented and full for differing flavours.

(Report Problem)Having been to a few Japanese restaurants, I was looking forward to dinning here. The large wooden doors and metal work in the extrance way spoke of Tradition and excellence... The inside was such a disappointment, looking more like the inside of a poorly thought out club, complete with loud music and neon purple/pink lights. The place was packed and we were herded towards the bar to wait for our seats. The bar was full of wannabe OC rejects shouting loudly, smoking and downing the pints... Not really what I had expected. Squeezed behind the drinkers were two or three groups of people trying to eat off tables that looked little better than tv dinner trays. Combined with the smoke from the bar and people pushing past them, they looked like they were having the worst meal of thier lives... The rather loud main dinning area (think school canteen), was seperated from the bar by a thin wooden facade and no seperation between smokers and non. We went to the enterance/foyer to find out where they where planning to seat us. Surprise surprise... beside the bar... I asked if we could be seated elsewhere, but there was no room. Horrified at the prospect of eating anything in a smoke filled hole beside the bar we left.... Went to Suwanna Thai Resturant on Great Victoria Street and had a 5 star meal in a 5 star atmosphere.
