Fantastic

Stayed at theRui Tropical Bay. The room was fantastic, great sea view and so clean and tidy. The all inclusive is great, even down to the optics and free mini bar. The hotel staff are always keen to help and the evening entertainment was the best I have ever seen. You would pay to see this kind of entertainment. The restaurants are great and the choice was amazing from breakfast to evening meal. The only disappoinment was the steakhouse, the steak itself was fine but the rest of the food was cold, where it had been sat on the top waiting for the steak. Not one person in the restaurant ate it. To be honest avoid this and you will be fine. The hotel is on its own private beach and we never once got troubled by any locals. This was the first time I had done long haul and flew with Thomsons. The crew on the way out where not very helpful but the Manchester based crew who on the way back where fantastic, very attentive and always keen to help. Andy

we call beeches nigril our home been 4times and back again in march

it truly is beautiful we have made great freinds with staff who we keep intouch with and who work so hard to make our holiday memoriable

over rated

stopped in the Rui Tropical Bay Negril, supposed to be a 4 star NOT more like a 2 star. the hotel was dirty and the rooms smelled fusty like stale sweat, we had 3 room changers and just gave up. the staff were rude especially if you didn't tip every time you had a drink, the pool was dirty due to the filter being broke while we was there and still broke when we came home 2 weeks later, the management were unhelpful when we complained, about the state of the hotel saying it's very old what's that got do with we don't know, there was a lot of robberies out of the rooms no forced entrys they had copies of room keys and safe keys 5 couples were robbed the first week we was there, around the pool sunglasses,shoes,cameras, and phones were going missing, the food ok but the same choice every night so got very boring by the second week, this hotel is in desperate need of decorating and new furnitue, there is nothing for children to do, so would nt reccommend taking children here but then again would not reccommend adults either, VERY disappointed with this holiday expected holiday of a life time but got an holiday from HELL, stop in better hotels in spain at a fraction of the cost.

Holiday from hell

we booked thr Riu Tropical Bay in Negril for our Honeymoon, we arrived 26th June 06 and was ROBBED on the 28th June, there was no forced entry has they had copies of the room key and safety deposit key, 4 other couples were robbed in the same way, hotel management were useless, police even worse, aflter talking to there staff including there security staff they told us that the problem got so bad that 6 weeks before we arrived they had all the room keys and barrels cut and grounded down and new ones ordered to try and solve the problem, it didn't has this is an inside opperation were staff have easy access to get copies of the new keys which they did. be warned when you check in and you are given your safe key it has a number on the key so they know which safe key has gone to which room, if you get any phone calls and when you answer they put the phone down take that has a warning and take your belonging out with you, this resort is not very safe to walk round you will be approached every 2 yards being offered drugs or prostitutes, staff wanting tips all the time even if they havn't done anything, they just expect it. this hotel is in desperate need of redecorating and the furnature changing very dating and smelly. would not recommend this hotel, resort or country to anyone.

it was so good, i wish my whole family and i lived there!

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I LOVED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE OF THE LIFE I HAD IN JAMAICA, IT HAD STARTED FROM THE MOMENT I STEP OUT OF THE PLAN AND INSIDE MY LUXARY HOTEL IT WAS FANTASTIC. THE SEA WAS VERY CLEAR ALL I SAW WA SND, AS FOR THE FOOD ALL I CAN SAY IS UMMMMM.

it is really beautiful you would love it! really pretty beaches and lighthouses! the sunsets are fabulous and the sun comes up early so you get to see everything!

Yes Mon!!! NEGRIL!!!

Negril is the anti-Cancun. It is pure carribean. No building is taller than a palm tree so all the resorts are bungalo style. There is a nice mix of funky beach bars and restaurants plus a couple of larger clubs. Everything 'fits'; there is no rampant comercialism. The music, the vibes, nature, the people it all comes together in Negril, mon. There are agressive people trying to sell you everything from 'ganja' to fruit to art, however deal with these people with a sense of humor and everything will be fine.

Beautiful area, not safe though

I loved the resort I stayed at in Negril, but did not feel very safe when we strayed from the resort. Even the beach next to our resort was filled with pushy beach stands selling many different wares. Including, many of which were illegal and could be a potential for a disasterous holiday. The roads are not well maintained and there is just too much poverty in the outlying areas that when the locals are wandering about you become very aware that their eyes are watching you...not a good thing. I have travelled many places; but this one isn't one I'd come back to, I need to feel safe when I travel.
