I thought Petra was just fantastic....the history and just how the city was carved out of red sandstone is unbelievable and definately worth a trip. Dont be put off by what you hear the middle east is a super place to go, Damascus is great the people couldnt be any friendlier....dead sea is sureal.....Go see for yourself I went last year and couldnt wait to go back this year.....

(Report Problem)One of my favorite places in the world...Petra is surreal being completely carved out of red-colored sandstone. Can feel very lonely in the nether regions of the valley. Lots of hiking trails to explore. Had tea with a bedouin in a cave. Be sure to visit The Monestary (Al Deir) via donkey or on foot - be careful if you decide to climb to the top of it, it can get slippery. Also, don't miss the amphitheatre where the acoustics are perfect. Helps to get a good guide book or a human guide to show you the sites and traditions.

(Report Problem)it looks unreal because its almost impossible to imagin how much time, effort n skill went into the creations of the stone city. my tip is take a horse or donkey ride as its much better to enjoy the sites without being exausted (fair price 2JDs for the ride from entrance to Khazneh's treasury).defintely worth the 8hrs travelling there n back from amman
