Wonderful Beirut

five stars

Well... it is undescribable! Everything is so exciting here! women are just beautiful and so mysterious. Food beats any other part of the world and not just lebanese food but also: I had the best sushi, best italian food and best french fondue, all in this amazing city. I want to take my wife there because, my trip to Beirut inspired me so much! and she has to discover this beauty that we have in the most unexpected places in the world.

Great for: Beaches, Skiing/Snowboarding, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife

Last Visit: August 2005

I bought an apartment in Beirut

five stars

great city, loved every single minute of it; extremely safe, my wife and me were walking through Down Town at 4:00 am, and we felt very safe. You have to visit the Beirut. I say it is my top destination, better than any European city that I have visited. And by the way, ask about famous fast food restaurants, it is the best fast food in the world

we can't wait to go back

five stars

i loved the atmosphere, the people are so kind. U can still see some left overs from war time, i don't really know it that is made on purpose. as people say they are there to remind them of what their ancestors have done and keep them from doing it again. I can say that Lebanon has made a big step forward. Keep up the good work HEROES.

The greatest city in the world

five stars

I have traveled around the world, and no city can even compare with the beauty of Beirut. Simply put, this is the best city in the world, to live in, or to vacation. I lived in Beirut for a long period and had several visitors from all over the world. Not one of them did not end up canceling their return ticket to stay a little longer; some stayed for days, some for a year! The natural beauty of Lebanon as a whole is breathtaking, comprising everything from beautiful virgin beaches, to sky-high mountains with breathtaking views, to luscious greenery. The weather is also great, there isn’t a time of the year in which a part of the tiny country isn’t warm or cool. During the winter, the mountains are really cold and offer some the best ski resorts in the region, while the coast is usually warm enough to just wear a sweater. During the summer, the coast is hot, offering some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean, while a 15-minute drive will take you up the mountains to the comfortable cool and lovely breeze. Beirut itself has everything you could expect from a global city and more. The Lebanese food is incredibly delicious, and you can find cuisine from all across the world in Beirut’s neighborhoods. The night life is unmatched anywhere, and surely Beirut should take New York’s self-proclaimed title of the city that never sleeps. Whereas closing hours will spoil your night out in just about every major European or North American city, Beirut’s clubs and bars will never close while you want to party, and the party usually carries out till 6 or 7 in the morning. And no one enjoys their party better than the Lebanese, you will know when you go there. Not just that, but you will find anything you want at whatever time of the day or night. Life in Beirut is extremely convenient and easy. Restaurants will always deliver, many of the 24 hrs a day, and not just light sandwiches or fast food, but you can order any food you want to come to your place any time of the day or night. The cultural scene in Beirut is unmatched anywhere in the Middle East. If you plan on traveling in the Middle East, this is really the one city to go to, offering you everything you could want. Many are afraid of the safety issues in Lebanon, but this is extremely exaggerated, the war ended there 15 years ago, and life is extremely safe. Theft and crime are extremely low, and acts of violence virtually non-existent. Beirut is certainly safer than most major cities of the world. I have never met anyone to ever go there who was disappointed with their trip, and everyone who leaves Lebanon leaves it with a heavy heart. A truly magical and lovely city.
