(Report Problem)Having spent a few months in the philippines in 2003 i found Cebu to be one of the best places to visit. There is 'Hilltop' where you can cast your eye over the most wonderful scenery, you can shop till you drop in the malls like SM and Robinsons. The food, the people and the way of life is better than i ever imagined, I would love to spend all my holidays in Cebu and other close islands like Bohol and Maasin. God Bless you all

(Report Problem)Cebu is a modern city with traditional values. You can do things from the traditional to modern like (i.e. Fort San Pedro to 21st century IT Parks). If you like white sand beaches and clear blue water cebu is the place for you. Visit near by Islands like camotes, bohol and bantayan. Cebu is a good place to retire, its safe and has all the modern conveniences with old world charm. If you like to shop then this is a good place for it,with more than 4! modern malls. So go to Cebu and see for your self, you will go back again and again! I do! I love Cebu!

(Report Problem)What makes Cebu one of best cities in Asia? It's people..... Cebuanos are known to be accommodating and plesant to be with. It's the hub for fashion accessories and handicrafts manufacturing; Asia's Italy in terms of furniture design-- where 70% of Philippine furniture export is made here in Cebu. Nice beaches and has a lot places to go to..... Just 45 moinutes ride can get you from city to beaches or from city to the mountains...... Cebu where everyday is a holiday.... retire and live in Cebu. I love Cebu.... from Aiken Chan, RPT New York

(Report Problem)The beaches are great and the culture of the people can be traced back to their spanish roots, very friendly and hospitable.

(Report Problem)Cebu is highly urbanized, but not as congested as Manila. I admit to be bias to this place because I'm a Cebuano myself. Cebu is just awesome, you wouldn't know what is in store until you see for yourself...I tell you, Cebu has a lot to offer!

(Report Problem)As a Cebuano, I am obviously biased. However, I would highly recommend people interested in touring Southeast Asia to visit Cebu. It has a particularly unique culture to anywhere in SE Asia, even Manila. The blend of Spanish, Chinese and American influence is extraordinary. If you want to take in a piece of Old Cebu, I would suggest visiting Downtown (i.e. Colon, Magallanes). Although the area can at times be dodgy, it is generally safe during the daytime. You will be able to see the Basilica del Santo Nino - the oldest Catholic Church in Asia - and walk through the bustle of Colon Street - the oldest street in the entire Philippines. For more local fare in the area, you can check out the Carbon Market which has a wide selection of local fruits, wares and fabrics. For the less adventurous, you can spend your time enjoying the endless shopping around Cebu. The best place to shop is undoubtedly at the Ayala Center or SM City. Both malls sell prominent labels and have recognizable food chains and restaurants. For a slice of Spanish culture, you need to visit Casa Gorordo (on the corner of Gorordo and Mango Avenues) and Casino Espanol (a country club which offers traditional Spanish foods). I would also suggest taking a tour of Maria Luisa Estates in Banilad. You will be able to see some of the spectacular homes in the country on the hillside development. The architecture ranges from American , Spanish and Continental. It is truly a magnficent place. You can also experience the Chinese influence of Cebu in the Beverly Hills district where you can find the Taoist Temple. Beverly Hills is the Chinese alter ego of Maria Luisa which is a predominantly mestizo community. Lastly, at nightime, you may want to take a trip to the top of the Nivel Hills. At the peak of Nivel Hills, you will reach the site known locally as Tops - which offers the most breathtaking panorama of Cebu City, the surrounding hillsides and the Mactan Channel. You will also be able to find several night spots along the drive to the top of the Nivel Hills such as Cebu Plaza's Casino, Waterfront Casino and several excellent restaurants at the base of the hill. Cebu is amazing and does not have a quarter of the chaos and commotion associated with the rest of the country. If you visit Cebu, the rest of Asia will seem like a bore. You will not be able to find the cultural synthesis and hospitality anywhere else.
