I visited Lagos for a few hours as part of an excursion and wished that I had been here for the whole of my holiday. It was in May, so the weather wasn't at it's warmest. The decent sized town was active without being crowded and the locals were very friendly (something I found across the Algarve). There is plenty of history and heritage in Lagos to be explored, churches, intesting shops, restaurants, cafe's. There is a lovely promenade along by the water where you can walk up to the harbour and see the boats. Lagos is also an excellent base for exporling other places in the Algarve, being fairly central. I can't comment on the nightlife, but it didn't strike me as being a lively place. As with most of the Algarve that I saw, the place was immaculate.
Great for: Beaches, Scuba/Snorkeling, History/Culture, Budget Travel, Family Holidays
