This museum has the most unfriendly and unpleasant staff in the world. My mom in law - who does not speak either french or english - almost got kicked out because she was eating a little bit of bread because she was getting low on blood sugar. When I tried to point out to the staff that his rudeness was unjustified and did not give a very good image of france, his answer was: "I don't care about the image of France!". Overall, the visit made me feel like I was treated as cattle, not guest. International visitor: don't go waste your money in France. It's hard enough to get a visa. They don't want you there. Many other countries will apreciate you and not despise you.

(Report Problem)Our biggest discovery is that its free on ther first Sunday of the month (and maybe every sunday- not sure) so you sure get value for money. By getting there when it opened on the free day, Sunday, we went right in to see the Mona Lisa with no line, and practically nobody else in the room. We heard that often there is a long wait & big crowd. It is worth paying a small rent for those audio guides to explain what you are seeing in your own language. A great experience & plenty of shops, toilets & restaurants in the museum.

(Report Problem)must be on your to do list!! i regret not allowing myself more time for this beautiful, historic museum!! Although beautiful, i was a little disappointed with the Mona Lisa, so dont expect the world. the Louvre is a must see!!!!!!!!!!

(Report Problem)The Louvre is well worth seeing if you are a lover of history and art. This is a place where the day can pass you by and you come out wondering where the time has gone. The Louvre consists of four levels- massive floors. Each floor show between 2 and 6 themes and make sure you have a map when you go in because you cannot see everything in one day. Also, this is a great area to go to becasue the Arc de Triomphe is visible as well as a beautiful park running adjacent.

(Report Problem)There is so much to be seen here that I recommend you spend at least 2 days exploring. We arranged in advance for a 2 hour tour that covered all the famous works such as Venus d' Milo and the Mona Lisa and then saw the rest of the Museum on our own. This worked great for us because we got additional history on the famous works then took the rest at our own pace. On Wednesday the museum stays open late (~9:30pm). If you can not read French, then it may be difficult for you to read the plaques that give additional inforamtion on the painting or object (I suggest you get a guide or rent the audio tapes from the museum).

(Report Problem)I have never in my life seen artwork on this grand of a scale before. Just seeing the Mona Lisa alone is worth the trip. A must see if you're in Paris.

(Report Problem)I went several years ago and if for no other reason than seeing the Mona Lisa and the Venus De Milo, it was worth the trip. It is an incredible place and you certainly need more than one day to enjoy and absorb all there is to see. I will definately make plans to go again.
