Worth Seeing

four stars

If you are concerned about climbing the steps check before you go that the little electric railway is working - it is to the left directly next door to the S-Coeur (outside the railings), (handy toilets there too). The rail was not working in June 2007 and we decided not to risk it (asthma) so didn't go inside it but we enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing it from the first seated area. Montmartre is work walking through for that remarkable and unique feel of Paris.

Sacre-Coeur, Montmarte, Moulin Rouge

five stars

Great view of the city of course. Sacre-Coeur sits high on a hill overlooking Paris, the view is unobstructed because there are no sky scrapers in the city. Nearby the is the famous Montmarte, and if you want to walk a little further the Moulin Rouge.

Sacre Couer and MontMartre- worth it!

four stars

The Sacre Couer- or Sacred Heart is breath- taking. The over look of the city streets is also worth the climb it will take to actually get you to this Basilique. You are rewarded when you do though with not only a view of scenic Paris but also if you choose to look around- an encounter with Montmartre. M is where many Parisian artists line the streets daily trying to sell work the little village is filled with cafes and french architecture as well.

Sacre-Coeur

four stars

We walked up the MILES of steps to the top. I recommend you only do this if you're in shape, it nearly ruined the rest of our(my) time in Paris. I was so stiff for 2 days after that I was unable to make the, much easier, climb to the top of Notre Damn the next day.

Meditative Moment

five stars

Not only do you have an awesome view of Paris itself from the grounds of the Basilique, but the inside is beautifully breath-taking, not dark and heavy like Notre Dame. I found myself renewed and refreshed after a quiet time of meditation in this sacred space. The only sight that I visited twice while in Paris!

Interesting but...

three stars

Sacre Couer is interesting, but I wouldn't worry too much if you missed it. This site is not nearly as some others in Paris. If you are near Mont-Mart it is well worth a look though. It does make a good landmark if you get turned around in the narrow and winding streets of Paris and is usually even more visible than the Eiffel Tower.
