Me and my mum went to Copenhagen last November and we missed the Christmas opening of Tivoli by a week. We were gutted and could only watch the displays and Christmas trees being erected as we watched through the bars. We are going back at the end of November this year then we can actually go in. We stayed at The Mermaid hotel which was in a brilliant position. The rooms were quite basic though but for the time you want to spend in the room the location outweighed the room quality. We are staying at the Hotel Alexander this time and hope that this lives up to its expectations. The stroget shopping is brilliant especially a shop that sell Christmas gifts really cheap and it is like a tardis when you get in. The cafe in the shopping center at the side of Tivoli sells the best sandwiches and cakes and Cafe Norden next to Mc Donalds is excelllent. Go to the Palace at around 11 and see the changing of the guards and then carry on to see the mermaid. The wax works is also quite good. The Carlsberg Brewery is also good but if you are a bit prudish don't walk there behind central station as you end up in the red light district! Also go in the afternoon - me and my mum went in the morning and were drinking free dark lager at 11 in the morning!Go to Copenhagen you will not be disappointed

(Report Problem)Tivoli is a must for all visitors to Copenhagen. Even in tourist season, the park's atmosphere has something for everyone, whether you prefer a romantic stroll along the lake in the quiet northeastern side of the park, or the bustle of all the attractions in the southern end. Live music, kid's theater, acrobats, rock concert every Friday nigt, light show every day, and fireworks every Saturday are all free.
