small typical english working town

i am a german tourist having interest in all towns and villages of united kingdom. I flied Easyjet from Dortmund to this town and overnighted in the thistle hotel central to the city. It was neigbouring a shopping mall with lots of shopping opportunities plus it was very multicultural with the lots of immigrants there- lots of spicy delicacies like traditional Turkish kebab and thai noodles. This place is being underestimated but it is in fact, more compact and easy to get around for oneself than London. for a single night it is being a good way to see England. excellent bus service to airport from centre, cant get accustommed to transport on wrong side of the road though! Very British, no?!
