We decided to stop off at a B&B in Stirling and looked round the beautifull City, albeit the shopping centre could be anywhere, there are some wonderful things to see and do. I would say that the City has more history than other more high profile stops we made. Back at the digs we were looking for somewhere to eat at night, to be honest, the Cities offerings were a bit bland looking and our hosts guided us towards The Burnside Inn in nearby Menstrie. The Inn sits under the superb Ochil Hills and we enjoyed a superb meal with first class service, washed down, on my part, with a pint of Bitter and Twisted, strange name but beautiful ale. If you are in the Stirling area don't miss out The Burnside, it's a Wee Gem

(Report Problem)With my favorite movie being Braveheart, Stirling was an obvious choice to visit while in Scotland. The castle is interesting, but I believe the William Wallace Monument was the highlight of my stay there. We had a little trouble getting to the monument, being that it is a few miles away from Stirling, and the climb to the top of the hill THEN the monument was challenging....But once you reach the top it is an AMAZING view. Well worth a day's visit.
