Lovely city

five stars

Swansea is really a gem. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, if not in Europe, offers stunning coastal scenery, and has an amazingly wide range of restaurants and cafes - many with sea views. For sightseeing, check out the marina, Mumbles and Caswell and Langland Bays and the Waterfront Museum. Historic Wind Street is home to some excellent restaurants (though can be quite rowdy at night due to the proliferation of bars) as is the sea front at Mumbles.

Great for: Beaches, Hiking/Camping, Theatre/Music, Family Holidays

Great Beaches, Great Bars, generally a great city.

four stars

Not many people seem to know this but there is a stunning beach right in the city centre just behind the Marriot hotel. If you want something a bit more picturesque try the beaches on the Gower, although be warned Caswell Bay (closest to the city) is always the busiest, its worth driving a little further to one of the other beaches. If you're into hiking and camping the Gower a designated area of outstanding natural beauty is also well worth a visit. The nightlife is great too. Head for the old financial district on Wind Street (pronounced 'Wine' for some reason) and you'll find loads of bars and restaurants most open until late. All the clubs are around the Kingsway area. There's some good clubs arond here. Escape is the best for dance music (although a little expensive to get in), Time is the biggest (quantity rather than quality!) and Flares and Jumpin Jaks are best for a party atomsphere. The main disadvantage is that the nearest airport is Cardiff or Bristol, although it is easy to get to/from London with trains every 1/2 hour.

Great for: Beaches, Hiking/Camping, Nightlife

Beauty at its Finest

five stars

I attended University there for a semester. It was the best time in my life and I will always remember it for the beauty, kindness of the people, night life, and access to many other cities and countries from the rail ways and ferries.
