It should come as no surprise that the shops in Covent Garden are expensive. Everything in London is expensive. That's not the point, though. This central hub of activity is a fun place to people watch and drink in the atmosphere. You'll find a variety of buskers (street performers) who'll entertain you in exchange for the change in your pocket. You'll see lots of colorful shops of all sorts-- from books to toys to high-end clothing. My first experience with the LUSH bath store was in Covent Garden-- it is fantastic (but not for those with allergies or sensitivity to smell). Also close by are the London Transport Museum and the Theatre Museum. There are some okay restaurants in the area, but I'd recommend doing your research and going farther afield for a really special meal.
