Great Christian Church

five stars

As a Christian viewing this church I was really impressed by the grandeur and the beauty of this building dedicated to honor God. I was lucky enough to view one of the Catholic religious services conducted during my visit. Many readings from the Bible were made. I also was impressed with the amount of art in the church that made direct reference to biblical stories – I always thought this religion didn’t reference the bible. If true, the underground tomb of Peter the Apostle certainly is reason for the awesome nature of the church.

Can't wait to see it again, been there twice so far:)

five stars

Awesome! It is so inspiring! If you climb the cupola, you also get a vast view of the Square and Roma.

Buy a postcard instead

two stars

St Peter's basillica is an amazing building when you consider when it was built the level of intricate detail is astounding. However, for me as a Christian I was visiting for the spiritual and it fails to deliver big time. This is a building dedicated to the Popes and the excess of the Catholic church. The whole thing felt like a converyor belt experience and there was nothing spiritual about this building. Also, in visiting the Sistine Chapel you have to que for ages and then when you finally get in there by the time you have got through to see the fantastic paintings in the Sistine the rest of the Museum exhibits are closed. Not worth the entrance fee.

Climb the steps

five stars

Climb the stairs to the top - it adds to the experience. One everyone will remember forever. The size of this makes one feel humbled when you consider the tools available at the time this was built.

The Vatican was amazing. I have been many places and seen many beautiful buildings, but I was in complete awe. I would recommend going there to anyone wanting to visit Rome. It was beautiful!

The best Honeymoon ever

five stars

If you only get to see one thing in Rome, go to Vatican City. You won't be disappointed.

Awe-Inspiring

five stars

This is unbelievable. For someone who is not overtly "religious" this building is truly awe-inspiring and you can definitely feel the power of God here! Touring the church on your own gives you time to soak up all the gorgeous detail it has to offer. Make sure to go beneath the main church as there is more to see! The trip to the top is awesome as well - it can be tough if you're out of shape or claustrophobic but the view from the top is well worth it. A definite Rome must!

Beautiful!

five stars

Once you get to the top of the Basilica, the view takes your breath away. You get a bird eye view of Rome and surrounding cities, and it is amazing. If you get the chance to go to Rome, you have to come to San Pietro.
