Open air shopping mall

four stars

Petaling street as the main market street in KL's old chinatown used to be a colourful, lively and genuine place to bargain and eat in the evening up to the middle 90s. Now chinatown has turned into a tourist place, the food is poor and expensive. The only goods on sale are clothing and watch fakes. If you want a genuine nightmarket, go to jalan masjid india on saturday nights.

Countefiet heaven and brilliant atmosphere

This market has everything you could want ecpecially when it comes to designer gear; they have deisel, versace, armanis and levis jeans for £12GBP each!!! Also get lacoste and ralf lauren polos at 5 for £20GBP, loads of diffeerent designer t-shirts(von dutch, armanis, versace etc...),Timberland boots, trainers of all kind, polos, racing gerseys you name it.And all are high quility fakes (or maybe even real they are that good) you honnestly cant tell the difference between those at this market and the real thing and the best part is you wont pay more than 1/4 of the price. Timberlands for £30, nike shox £25, versace t-shirt £5. And its not all clothes there are superb fake watches, they are so good a watch specialist friend of mine couldnt tell the difference you will find the higher they are on the stand the better the copy and for only a bit more cash, Tag's Rolex, frank Muller, Omega all the major bands the celebs wear. There is also handbags, Wallets, Belts all designer and good quility. If you want amazing quility Fakes which look exactly the same as the real deal Petaling street is the place to go you could get a whole new wardrobe for under £100 (trust me I did). You just cant beat it for value and I would recomend it to anyone who visits malaysia even if its just to buy presents the recipients will not be dissapointed!!

Bargain heaven.....!!!

four stars

This place is the place where I can get alot of cheap things.T-shirts,souvenirs and anything you can get here. You don't have to worry about getting the rain because Chinatown at Petaling street is covered. It is definately at this place where you can bargain and get all the cheap prices things here. You can take the LRT to get here. There are 4 types of LRT in Malaysia. There are Star LRT,Putra LRT,KL Monorel, and KTM LRT.Remember take the STAR LRT because olny this LRT will lead you to Petaling Street(Chinatown). Also remember to bring enough water because you know, bargaining can be quite tiring!....

Petaling street

four stars

The last time i went, I stayed in Swiss Inn hotel, a budget hotel in Pataling street, chinatown.

I enjoy the food there, I can easily find lots of food ranging from eaterie shops to roadside hawkers, offering plentiful of variety ranging from dumpling noodle, claypot chicken rice, bbq chicken wing, seafood, steamboat and more, and most of all, its cheap!! I like the chee cheong fun (long piece of flour with sauce in it) and the ang pang yong tou fu (a mix of beancurd, vegetables, fishballs, cuttlefish), which open in the morning till afternoon. Then a slow walk along the street, you feel the ambience and crowd, a mood for shopping. There are plentiful of bazaar stalls selling mainly immitation bags, watches, t shirts, clocks, and their malaysian cookies n candies, the price there are bargainable. Check the product for default and bargain at least 50% off normal price. The bazaar stalls are crampy to each other but its a nice experience to shop.

The shophouses are pretty old but it is historical and enhance its ambience. Though the area is quite mondernise now, recently just renovated with shelter and and clean tile flooring at the main street. Well to some people, it may be just an ordinary street, fill with shops and food.

But if you are a detailed person, besides enjoying the food there, shopping for the rite stuff, paying attention to the shophouses, lifestyle of vendor and the crowd, the things around you, it is interesting.

Roaming around, I saw these interesting mobile pancake stall n roastduck stall there every morning whereby many people will line up to buy. There was one day when i shop, 2 Buddhist nuns go round offering people some cards or pictures and ask for donation in return. There is a wet market there where everymorning ladies will be doing their marketing there.
