Good clean fun

five stars

What an excellent day out! I went with my husband and son. There is an eductional tour, demonstrating the discovery of the cocoa bean and how it is made into chocolate. The displays also highlights the ideologies of the Cadbury family, showing the history of the factory in Bournville and the way the company attempted to improve the lives of the workforce, with good housing, education etc. There is also a tour around the factory (the smell of chocolate is overwhelming, but wonderful if you are a chocolate lover). During the factory tour everyone is given a little bag of chocolate. One of the highlights for me was the little train ride through some exhibits depicting the Cadbury characters - get up close and personal with Mr Cadbury parrot! The highlight for my son (12 years old) was the factory shop at the end of the train ride - well it would have been rude not have taken advantage of the reduced prices and vast choice of chocolate goodies. All in all, excellent value for money and we would go again...often.

I was actually very disappointed.. it seems half of the factory tour was closed. Had much better experience visiting the poulain factory in France, at least your clothes smellt of chocolate at the end of the tour then. Sadely i dont like cadbury chocolate so the free bars did not compensate how expensive the entrance price was.. do not recommend it
