We love our touists, but please don't wear the boots and hats!! None of us wear them, Nashville is a city, although we are so notoriously friendly that it can seem like a small town. Check out the music, the historic mansions and inns, and the speedway is fun (loud). I live in California now, and still miss the food. Go to Arnold's for lunch if you want real southern food. It looks like a dump, but we know the truth!! Great food, cheap prices. Eat breakfast at the Pancake Pantry-go early to avoid lines. If you can, go 3 hours east to Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mt. National Park. For something you'll never see in Europe, get advance tickets (can be expensive) to a University of Tennesse Football game. 120,000 wild orange fans. GREAT fun!!!
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife
Last Visit: august 2004

(Report Problem)Remember your cowboy hat as if you're not wearing jeans and a stetson you may feel a little out of place. To anyone from outside the US it feels like one big fancy dress party where you'll have a blast, drink loads, eat loads and meet some great people!

(Report Problem)This was my 1st time in Nashville - we came to visit with our friends who had come over from Ireland (their 1st time too) - we all had a wonderful time - we went to the Grand Ole Opry on Sat night March 26th. My husband Rick and I ended up with Tickets in the Front row center. Lordy does Trace Atkins know how to wear a pair of Jeans!! We walked all over downtown and also went to the Hall of Fame - that was really great. So much to see, so much History. Had a wonderful dinner with our friends heard lots of terrific musicians. Put Nashville on your TO DO list, it's well worth a look.

(Report Problem)I love this city. It gives you a great sense of a warm southern town with just a bit of the big city life! Nashville has become my second home.
