So much to do and see. We spent three weeks in Cape Town and there is still more to see. The areas around Cape Town such as the Winelands are easy to get to and offer stunning scenery and plenty of activities. Go see this place!

(Report Problem)Find the Dutchman!!! For the ones who start their South Africa journey in Cape Town: google to 'Maze in South Africa' or 'Klaas Voogds Maze'. Well you have to find your way. A clue: less than 2 hours touristic drive from Cape Town. Just go where the Capetonians are going. And nearby you can find some of the best wines of South Africa. Another clue: It is NOT Stellenbosch or Franschoek. And: certified by Fair Trade in Tourism in South Africa (FTTSA) At the same premises you can also find the largest succulent collection of over 2400 different succulents from all over the world in the unprotected open air. Weird but passionate hosts and a great hospitality. Find the Dutchman. But take your time: At least 1.5 hrs but the average visitor needs approx. 3 to 4 hrs to experience it all. Their website, chosen as one of the 25 most informative tourism websites in South Africa, also has a chapter with very precise road directions (especially the last few hundred metres) next to chapters about accommodation and other activities nearby; love-letters; the CIA and other media-exposures; team building projects; etc. etc. Well, if you cannot find this amazing venue via google, don't ever think of going into a maze and forget about this one. Oh .... uh: only for broadminded personalities ........... H. & Y.

(Report Problem)If you really want the best in terms of scenery, climate, service, variety, beaches, mountains and wildlife, then you will be impressed by Cape Town. It is out of this world. Be it the famous Waterfront with over 2000 shops and 200 restaurants, or the majestic Table Mountain, you will be astonished. Just 30 minutes drive from the city, you are in the Winelands, where some of the worlds' best wines grow, and where you can find top class restaurants in the vineyards. If your pleasure is diving or Game viewing, its all there. Anyone wishing to hear more please write to me, I would be happy to help. Ulrich Dannecker

(Report Problem)Don't ever, ever book a car with Aroundabout cars - we did! in August/confirmed November 2005 for the Christmas/New Year period - they let us down and would have ruined our holiday if a Good Samaritan - Leonard at Sea View Radio Taxis hadn't come to our rescue - what a great guy! DON'T USE AROUNDABOUT CARS. Cape Town is wonderful.

(Report Problem)Cities dont get much better than this, its truly incredible, the most beautiful place one can imagine, mountains, wineries nearby, a natural harbour... then there is the food and drink... you can really spoil yourself, I recommend a restaurant called OYO in the V&A Hotel. It is great... fantastic meals at affordable prices. Top Ten things to do. 1. Climb the mountain, dont take the cable car, save that for the way down!!! Its quite an experience. The views from the top are really stunning. 2. Take a boat and an organised tour or Robben Island, learn about the history of the island when it was used to inprison people. Nelson Mandela was held here for many years, and you can see his cell. The people who show you around are often former inmates in this prison. 3. Stay at Camps Bay... what a venue, truly incredible with the 12 Apostles as a backdrop, stunning beach, great cafes, great latte, great experience... 4. Hire a car and drive Chapmans Peak - awesome driving experience... great views... taking you to Hout Bay 5. Hout Bay - Take a small boat to Seal Island 6. Drive up Signal Hill - Great views, take your camera, and enjoy... 7. Climb Lions Head... its a long climb and not suitable for children, but the views are amazing and the sense of achievement (at least for me, as I dont climb anything other the stairs in my house) 8. Dinner at OYOs (see earlier in my review) 9. Sunset Cruise in Table Bay... champagne glasses at the ready... 10. Cage Diving with sharks.. .personally not for me... but I know many who would... Whatever you choose to do this city is quite superb and is truly a wonderful experience for a long weekend, 5-7 nights whatever you choose, because there is no jet lag, due to the time difference being just 1-2 hrs depending on the time of year. BA and Virgin fly direct from London, typical prices around 400-700 GBP again depending on the time of year, use the price comparison service on Yahoo! to compare some flight prices.
