(Report Problem)Nice, France, is a perfect holiday destination for a short break – it really is the Queen of the Riviera; the capital city of the Cote d'Azur; and a superb winter and summer resort. It sits at the head of the Baie des Anges, and owes it's wonderful climate to the circle of hills that protect the city from northerly winds. Nice has been home to notable artists like Matisse, meaning Nice is also a cultural centre with some great galleries. The food and flower market and many of the make it a great place to visit. To the west is the elegant modern town; to the east the old town, with its narrow alleys and thousands of enticing shops and bars. www.travelsavvy-nice.com

(Report Problem)We visited Nice in January - not really knowing what to expect for somewhere so out of season but were pleasantly surprised. Going at this time of year didn't mean we missed out on anything (except perhaps scalding sunshine - it was just really pleasantly warm), it just meant that things were a little quieter and we could share the town with the locals instead of hoards of tourists. Being so close to Italy there were plenty of lovely pizza restaurants that we explored and the shopping and Promenade were great. Plenty of boutiques and designer shops for those with a bigger budget. Lots of history to discover and a great day excursion to Monte Carlo in Monaco by train made for a perfect week. Tip; If you take a day out by train from Nice it's well worth booking from Britain online... and book First Class! It's fantastic value and well worth it!

(Report Problem)We got a cheap flight from Bristol, got a hotel near the station & went somewhere different everyday on the train which ran frequently & to time, Villefranche, Menton & Monte Carlo just minutes on the train. Great restaurants in Nice, good value & ambiance. I can't find anything we disliked about Nice & hope to go again. Spring or Autumn is best. Not too hot

(Report Problem)I love Nice. What more could you ask for than a truly metropolitan city by the sea? Beautiful shops, wonderful food and Italy just up the railway tracks. I love the African influence, too. Just a gorgeous place with a wonderful Med atmosphere :)

(Report Problem)Nice is a beautiful place in fact the whole french riviera is something really special. Its simply geographically the best place on earth, mountains, parks, markets, sea, sports, sailing, divercity, the closeness of all the very cool places nice, monaco, italy, cannes, antieb. However.. Most of the french work for the government or government institutions. The demeanor of the average person from nice is somewhat dour, sorry for themseleves and blighted and struggling, and it has a socialist overtone, low salaries and huge taxation. The whole attititue is to rip off the tourists. Tourists seem to be resented for there wealth. Just watch the french snarl at some hotshot driving past in a ferrari. Or a couple with a lovley holiday home.

(Report Problem)Beautiful city with excllent restaurants. Make sure to see Monte Carlo and Cannes. Watch out for the taxi drivers though, they turn off their meters and then overcharge.

(Report Problem)Nice is a very lively mix of French, Italian, and Provencal cultures. There's the blue-green Mediterranean, great food, picturesque Mediterranean architecture, excellent museums, flowers and more flowers. The Cours Saleya market on a Saturday morning is an experience not to be missed.

(Report Problem)Be aware of handbag snatchers waiting to pounce at Gare train station. They know that the number 99 bus from the airport which stops at the train station is for tourist.I was stalked as soon as I got off the bus from this man on his moped and when the opportunity arose he rammed me with his moped and took my bag.I tried as best as I could to not let go but he just speed off.the whole town is full of these people whizzing in and out of you on their mopeds
