Overall

Dresden is a lovely city with many contrasts. The arcitecture of old Dresden is very impressive and definetly worth a visit. Dresden was the "culture capital of old Germany" as I am always reminded by my Grandparents and a lot of that culture is still reflected in the old part of town, despite the unbelievable distruction in 1945. If you're into art, the art gallery at the Swinger is pretty neet and just across from it is a museum that displays all sorts of armour from the middle ages with knights on horseback and all. (I think they kinda go together) If you want to shope this is the place to pick up those traditional German christmas smoking men and "pyramiden". There is usually a vender that hangs out in the street where the "Fuersten Zug" is displayed (during the summer months, when I've been there). He sells the little wood carved things at a couple of bucks cheaper than the local Christmas stores. Anyways I've been to the city a couple of times and hope to go back the next time I'm in Germany. Oh ya, the "Frauen Kirche" is also done with its renovations, at least from the outside. It looks like a mirrage with its white coloured bricks in the middle of all these ancient buildings. Definetly worth a look.
