This is probably one of the best low-profile small cities in Europe, for two major reasons - Cardiff Castle is simply a MUST-see. Why ever Warwick castle is the most popular in the UK is beyond my comprehension. I have travelled to many sights in Europe, and this was one of the most unforgettable. Secondly, in a country which has horrible food, especially the local cuisine, it was amazing to find the restauraunt "Blas ar Gymru" means A Taste of Wales, in Welsh. This was one of the best restaurant experiences in my life; more memorable than anything from Paris or Italy. Reservations required, I went on a night which had a harp player. When the staff found out we were from the US, the staff and many of the local Welsh patrons sung the Welsh national anthem for us.
