I was in London earlier this year and loved the gorgeous architecture and history of this city. Being the capital of England, I expected my stay to be expensive, but the 4 days I spent there far exceeded my estimated budget. Luckily I was staying with friends, otherwise I would have blown all my travel expenses. I found it odd that entrance to the British Museum was free while entry to Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral would cost so much. And the locals, they are SO unfriendly. I'm not sure if it's the stress of London life or the high taxes they need to pay, but everyone seemed to be in a rush and ignored my approaches for help. I asked this lady outside a tube station to help take a photo of my friend and I, and she declined rudely, saying that she was "tired." Hosting the 2012 Olympics? I would say that London has a long way to go in terms of being gracious. To keep things in perspective, I was in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cambridge, Oxford, Southport, Fort William and Stratford-upon-Avon. The people there were much friendlier. And I love the cut-glass British RP accent to bits.
