I love the City!!!

four stars

Like all the cities I have visited there are things that I like and dislike. In St. Louis I love the ARCH. I Think the arch is one of the most beautiful prospects in the world. I also like the atmosphere in that its not too crowded and very easy to get around. I found the Loop in St. Louis to be a great place to meet new people as well as offer a broad range of things to do. Things that I dislike about St. Louis is the great amount of litter in some places, and the extent of vacant houses that really are an eye sore in some neighborhoods. Overall St. Louis is definitely a unique city worth visiting. I would advise anyone who visits St. Louis to definitely check out the Galleria mall, that's a nice mall.

Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Budget Travel, Family Holidays

Last Visit: October 2007

Think Twice Before You Move

two stars

My husband and I were transfered here almost 2 years ago. I would say its a nice place to stay, but the people are very unwelcoming. It's like they are stuck in a time warp here where they think they are the only humans on this planet and think we are aliens. I kid you not, the last person is so right about them asking what high school you went from. Even at 30 something they still ask....to add, they even ask what subdivision you live in and what school district you are in as well. They don't understand that there is life past all that. Yes, it is nice to be somewhere where there is a lot to do, but when you are a lonely person trying to make friends, get used to it....you won't. Lucky for me my neighbor happens to be from Oregon like me, so I have at least 1 person to talk to. And what ever you do, do not say you are military, it makes it worse. Very anti-military here. We have been targeted several times in the last year and yet these people call themselves christians. Haaaa!!! Well, for those who are looking at moving here, come visit for a few weeks and tell people where you are from...their reaction will change your mind. Also, avoid St Charles and St Peters, they are worse then those in St Louis.

Up the Arch

five stars

Make sure to take a ride up the arch, and visit the museum underneath. As for Busch Stadium, it'll be gone in a couple years anyway, but its still fairly nice, for an ugly football like cookie-cutter park.

Roads

five stars

There is tons of things to do in st. louis its just getting there and not have missouri roads kill you. The state needs to work on the roads and make more signs and enforce the laws of the road.

We can't wait until this summer!

four stars

I think St. Louis is one of the best family cities in the United States. They have one of the best zoos around, and the best part is it's free. The only thing you would have to pay for would be parking if you choose to park in the lot across the street. We liked Six Flags as well. It's a nice place to take the kids, especially the younger ones, because there was plenty for them to do. Six Flags also has a nice concert stage. My daughter and I got to see our most favorite singer Rick Springfield there. I liked the river area where you could eat at McDonald's on the river. My kids can't wait to eat there this summer. Going to the top of the Arch is a must! You can see for miles when you get up there. For us St. Louis is a nice long weekend getaway.
