(Report Problem)Reno is the best town in the entire state to play and gamble. The locals are friendly and it's close to Tahoe if you must.

(Report Problem)I didn't like all those people smoking in the arcade, where all the little kids are.I liked it because the entertainment was in the hotel, so you didn't have to get out to entertain.

(Report Problem)If you like gambling this is the town for you.Unlike present day Vegas Reno still has all the deals they used to.Also you can still find single-deck blackjack in every casino. The accomedations are the same.If you liked old Vegas odds and deals with a better atmosphere than present day Vegas Reno is your town.

(Report Problem)Being situated in the same state as the goliath of gambling cities is likely to foster comparisons to Las Vegas. This is not completely fair, as Reno is a distinct city with its own style and unique offerings. If you visit expecting the high-rolling, glitzy, amusement-park atmosphere of Las Vegas, you may be a little dissapointed. Reno is a smaller city with a more laid-back atmosphere. You will be hard-pressed to find pirate ships and giant mechanical dragons here. The gambling venues are a little more understated, to say the least, but the hotels are quite nice and downtown is usually buzzing with entertainment options-- gambling, shows, great restaurants and buffets and some cool city-wide events, such Hot August Nights. And the setting is absolutely GORGEOUS-- at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, surrounded by hills and mountains and lakes. Even the downtown area (contrary to another review on here) is quite pretty: situated along the Truckee River, it has some nice parks, a river walk and shops (if the city ever gets its act together and demolishes some of the old hotels, it will be even prettier) and the skyline at night from the hills is something to behold. And the location next to the mountains and beautiful Lake Tahoe means that there are a TON of outdoor activities: skiing, boating, hiking, mountain climbing, you name it. Skiing and a beautiful setting-- two things you won't find in Vegas.
