This city is a revelation. The media have portrayed a run down place with people who dwell on the sad things. I found the place to be a hive of activity with new buildings all over the place. The city centre is full of great shops and has excellent transport links to get around. The people are really cheerful and funny and are easy going and welcoming. The accomodation facilities vary widely from the cheap rooms (£33)available at Formula 1 to the SAS Radisson. The museums and art gallerys are wonderful including of course the Tate at the Albert Dock. Don't miss a ride on the famous Mersey Ferry and visit the great Space Port at Seacombe on the other side of the River Mersey. Nearby at Crosby are the wonderful and thought provoking Gormley Statues and Southport, Chester and the beautiful beaches of the Wirral peninsula are easy to get to on frequent trains. There is great entertainment available at the Playhouse, the Empire and also the Philharmonic Hall and there are some wonderful eateries catering for every taste. For a city break there is something here for all.
Great for: Beaches, History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Family Holidays
