Beautiful place, great for the newly wed and the almost dead, hippies, hikers and gamblers
Do not go to Hot Springs if you want to party, unless you go during the horse racing season and you are white, non-queer and are over 40. If you enjoy hiking, swimming, Mexican and Cajun food- this is the place for you. Lake Quachita is an amazing lake, second cleanest in the country. www.lakeouachita.com/ Also, hippies and massage therapists love it there. There are lost of crystals, natural springs, bath houses (not the type with a happy ending) and a witch store for the Wiccans. Don't worry controlling christians there are 3 churches a few blocks away. It is a great place if you like a beautiful, quiet, clean town. If you are looking for a party, go to New Orleans. And if you are looking for a super ugly landscape and equally as boring vacation, please go to Kansas City, Kansas (not talking about the Missouri side.) The person from Kansas who posted obviously hasn't taken a look around their extremely fair and homogenous city. Yuck! Places to go: - Lake Quachita - The Arlington Hotel for a massage, bath and a drink in the lobby (don't stay of you don't like old Hotels.) - 2 mountain drives with vistas from downtown - The Gorge (a park) - Many hiking trails - Horse Races for the gamblers - The Fish Net or Nest for catfish - La Hacienda Restaurant - Cajun Boilers - Barbeque, Mickey's or McClard's (I prefer Mickey's.) - Bailey's for a machine ice cream - The Clarion on Lake Hamilton is a good place to stay. - The Witch Store for doves blood or maybe just some insence. After 3 or 4 days, head off to Eureka Springs, AR for a slight change of scenery.

(Report Problem)Downtown Hotel -stay away
Downtown Hotel (March 2005) We had to leave the Hotel at 3 in the morning and go somewhere else because of all the loud drunks in the rooms. The walls, ceiling and floors are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING around you. Its an old hotel that has NOT been refurbished. It is old and worn out. Save your money and stay somewhere else !!

(Report Problem)Hot Springs to Bust
I love Hot Springs, Arkansas but it is too small. We would like to stay for a week but we aren't sure what we would do to stay busy that long. The scenery is wonderful and the people are nice and helpful. There is a show that is very good and the spring water tastes wonderful. It is a neat place to see at least once because it is different from anywhere else we have traveled. Go see it soon.
