these merchants are the worst vendors i have ever met. try to bargain hard with them, you will see how they react. they will skin you from top to the bottom.

(Report Problem)A great shooping place for almost anything you want to buy in SaiGon. You can also have a good meal here. This market is historic, going back to 1947.

(Report Problem)You can find very good marchandises at a fraction of the price you pay at the more touristic spots on Dong Khoi street. You just have to look through the over stacked, over crowded aisles for something you like. But that's what made the experience at the same time charming and exciting: I found beautiful hand embroidered slide-in shoes, or handbag for $6-$10. I had previously paid $35.00 at Dong Khoi (fixed price), and one my friend paid $120 in SoHo, NY! After all, the latter had to pay for very high rent!

(Report Problem)Whether you're on a structured tour with limited time to shop, or staying in town for a few days, this is the place to be. There is no wasted space. If you can't find what you're looking for, keep walking. It's in there. My Vietnamese girlfriend did the deal making which was quite entertaining. It consisted of her getting a price for what we wanted, then saying no thanks and walking away. We get two steps away, and the price comes down. I would advise keeping water handy, as it can get pretty hot in there. A pack mule to carry all of your stuff would also be handy, but I suppose that's one of the risks of shopping.
