(Report Problem)Me and my family came to Washington D.C for a vacation and we got lost almost the whole way around D.C. It was several pedestrians j-walking, police sirens, traffic, and blowing horns. The worst thing about D.C was there was harldy NO parking lots. It surprised me that everyone in D.C didn't have a parking ticket. You could hardly drive because there were cars parked on the side of the road, and when you did find a parking garage you had to park in a specific place, the roof was small, and you had to walk down steps to get where you were going. Almost ALL of the parking spaces were reserved. The national Zoo was fun but Norfolk Zoo in Virginia was way better. The best thing about D.C was the buildings. Oh yeah did I mention that the stop lights are on the side and hard to see? We ran a red light a couple few times!!! D.C didn't seem like a country's capital, it was crowded. I never knew how much I loved Newport News, Virginia!!!
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music

(Report Problem)Visited at the same time as a trip to New York and there couldn't have been am greater contrast! Washington is quite a quiet place, not much to do in the evenings except for Central Station, but still enjoyable. It's really all about history though - the Holocaust Museum, which is a must-visit, Capitol Hill, Arlington Cemetery and the war memorials. Just wasn't enough to do at night.

(Report Problem)The Lincoln, Vietnam, Korea, Jefferson, FDR monuments were all fabulous. Washington Monument, as well as the White House, were not as great because security made it tough to visit them. Washington Monument (not sure about the White House, but i think also) need advance reservations.

(Report Problem)Had a wonderful experience at Cafe Mozart's Opera Night with soprano Marylyn O'Leary and tenor Michael Blaney. The accompnist Jeff Jefferson was also excellent. Food and service was great. Will be back!

(Report Problem)Check out Adams Morgan neighborhood for eclectic shops and eateries. City has great history, but I am unsure about its future. Would be better if Republicans didn't dominate Capitol Hill, but the citizens here are VERY liberal, and don't like the prez either.
