we stumblled on the Keys 3 years ago and have been every year since and are on our way again in Aprill. We fell in love with the area. the whole thing about the Keys is relaxation and peace and tranquility a wonderfull place. In The 3 years we have been there is only one place we would never ever, ever go back to and that is a small restuarant called Captain Shauns at mile marker 103 it was discusting what a complete rip off it was awful you cant miss the place on the main highway there is a massive statue outside of a chef holding a plate dont stop just drive on by David and Cathy from England
Last Visit: April 2006

(Report Problem)Nice location but the maintenance was poor-the 'hammock view' from our suite consisted of discarded bed rails tossed onto decayed "patio furniture' in a gravel lot with a partial view of the adjacent trailer park. This luxury suite also included a toilet that ran all night and a lopsided king bed with protruding spirngs. The state of the art fitness facility included an irritated maintenance person whose main concern was how long we were going to be using the room for. Only one of the general use hammocks was usable and the remainder were torn and not functional

(Report Problem)I loved everything about the keys, I just didn't have enough time to explore everything, or to visit all the other keys

(Report Problem)Spent a couple of weeks in the Keys...they were a huge disappointment as far as the beaches were concerned. Destin as far prettier beaches.

(Report Problem)We spent just a few hours in Key Largo, in December (out of season). A few shops are promptly closed at 5, while bars are open. One of our guidebooks mentioned to be weary about safety at night (this is, after all a city exposed to open sea, with wonderful merchandise shipped here from Central America). Going to a few shops that stayed open later (Dollar Store), we didn't see anything outside that made us scared. But we couldn't find any evening activities either. Diving at coral reef at John Pennekamp State Park is probably the only reason I would suggest you should stay in Key Largo.
