Rewari ) is a city and a municipal council in Rewari district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is located in south-west Haryana around 82 km from the Delhi and 51 km from Gurgaon. The whole district consists of 412 villages and 348 Panchayats.Rewari, the land of Yaduvanshi Ahirs/Yadavs, is a city of historical importance. Being a part of the Brahmavarta, the place where Vedic Sanskriti was developed, its history is told in Indian epics like Rigveda and Mahabharat.The last Hindu emperor of medieval period 'Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya' was from Rewari. Popular as Hemu in history, he had won 22 battles continuously, without losing any from Punjab to Bengal against Afghans and Mughals. He established 'Hindu Raj' in North India in 1556 for a short duration after 350 years of foreign rule.Though all the Hindu festivals are celebrated in Rewari, Barsana type Holi and the festival of Teej are of special importance. As in the nearby state of Rajasthan, Teej is celebrated annually in Rewari on the third day of the bright moon fortnight of the Shravan month (July–August).Rewari it was considered as educationally rearwarded area and with many education institutes it is now a growing educational city and coming in pace to the other cities.
