Not a bad hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 17/02/2008
Me & the wife stayed here for 10 days in March 05.We had a great seview room at the front but rear view rooms would have had a louzy view. The staff were friendly & polite & most understood English. The poolside staff were particularly helpful.Food & accomodation were good.the pool is perched about 50ft up on the side of the building over a busy road & it is noisy. My wife didn't like the pool area because it's quite small. There were 2 prostitutes in the main hotel bar most nights who we found quite amusing. The reason being was that they made a play for any guy even if they were with their wives etc.We didn't use the well known top floor restaurant as we dined out most evenings but the main restaurant was nice & has great seaviews.Overall,it is decent hotel & would recomend it but on a downside as soon as you walk onto the street you will get hassled by hawkers, traders & the poor. The same applies to the beach & street. As white northern europeans we stuck out a mile & on the beach we were hassled constantly & i do mean constantly by the aforementioned. Also there was only 1 bar nearby. The Copacabana was louzy for nightlife.

Meridien ripoff
By M., 06/06/2005
Very nice room and location.
Showers in the fitness room did not work !
Surveillance staff are rude to clients.
If you want to bring a friend to your room they charge you R$150 !

This hotel could be exceptional with a better attitude of staff and management.
