Lovely is the only word!
By ,
We came to TX for our daughter's wedding and styaed here. It was just wonderful. Stayed for a week over Christmas. My mother and brother joined us and we had a wonderful Christmas together. My mother who is turning 80 this year called this place an old person's home. She didn't think there was enough excitment at the hotel! My husband and I completely enjoyed everything about it. We would stay again when in town. No other hotel would do after a vist and we have stayed at the best hotels across the country. Our favorate is also in TX and it is The Mansion in Dallas.

Lovely hotel, small rooms...
By ,
The hotel is beautiful and very romantic; however the rooms are very small. Our room had a king size bed that took up the entire room. The closet was very tiny (about the size of a broom closet) and couldn't fit both our clothes. Getting to the riverwalk was super easy from our room, unlike other hotels where you have to walk through the lobby, with the location of thess rooms we were able to immediately access the riverwalk. We stayed for 5 days – way too long to be cooped-up in a tiny space.

Awesome!!!

Stayed here for New Years Eve 1995. IT was awesome. Everything was within walking distance. We didn't need the rental car we got.

Anniversary Stay
By ,
Just returned from a one-night stay (May 23, 2004) at the La Mansion in San Antonio. Overall, an absolutely wonderful hotel, but definetly pricey.

We arrived at 1pm and our room was not yet ready. However, they promised to call on our cell phone when the room was completed and that they would deliver the bags up to the room as well. The called us around 2pm as promised, and the bags were waiting on us in the room.

We were in room 525 overlooking the riverwalk. This was a deluxe king riverview room. The room had a private balcony, but note that their private balcony's are very small with uncomfortable wooden chairs. The rooms with shared balconies actually have larger balcony areas. The private balcony rooms are a bit larger than the shared balcony rooms.

Room was decorated nicely, exceptionally clean, and the bath was marble. Only complaint was the noise. Very little sound insulation from the riverwalk below, but part of the advantage of the hotel is being right on the riverwalk, so it is a trade-off.

For our anniversary dinner, we dined at the hotel's Las Canarias. Superb food and service, but pricey. Dinner for two (no alcohol) ran over $100 with tip. I had the veal chop, and it melted in your mouth. We had a table for two overlooking the riverwalk. Very romantic.

Would definetly stay here again, but would go for a less expensive room without the riverwalk view.
