Why is this place so popular?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/2005
I've eaten at Old Town Mexican Cafe many times throughout my 15 year stay in San Diego. I have yet to have a wonderful experience with the food. The tortillas are okay, but not nearly the caliber of traditionally made tortillas (with the lard). The food is not even as good as El Torito (which isn't saying much at all). Overpriced and overhyped. I know it may seem great for tourists (and for locals on Cinco De Mayo), but you won't catch me there again by choice. For REAL mexican food, Las Cuatros Milpas is the best food this side of the border. Not much in ambience, open only during the daytime, but worth the long wait in line. That's where I bring my family from out of town when they want REAL Mexican food.

Shimps!!! Where? Can Find them in the enchiladas...
By bataneco, 07/06/2005
I had lunch today, Monday September 27, 2004, at your restaurant. I am sorry I stopped by. I ordered the lunch 2 camarones enchiladas, soup of the day - potatoes and 2 XX drafts beers. The reception was terrible, I did not felt welcome. My server was courteous and friendly, Thank You Victoria. The 2 camarones enchiladas were terrible; two small shrimps cut into 5 pieces on each enchilada and a lot of tomatoes and onions with hot green peppers. I expected WHOLE "SHRIMPS" and lots of "SHRIMPS" I was disappointed.

Wonderful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/2005
The Old Town Mexican Cafe was just great. The price is right. The food was second to none, the 1800 Gold Margarita was very tasty, one of the best I've had, and the atmosphere was exciting and lively with a Mariachi band to boot!

I would recommend it to anyone!
