Description

Hotel Triton, with its bold splashes of reds, blues, and yellows, is as much a work of art as it is an accommodation. A large mural depicting the god Triton, brightens up the reception area. The lobby is a collection of unusual, though comfortable, furniture created by local designers. Each room is decorated with a similar flair, giving guests the opportunity to spend the night in a cutting edge, artistic setting. The hotel is very centrally and conveniently located. Walk to Union Square and the Financial District, or step through Chinatown's Gate less than a block away.

unique colorful whimsical decor! very pet friendly!
By Jess Barron, 06/06/2005
Before I lived in San Francisco, when I came here to visit friends recommended that I stay at Hotel Triton. "You will love it!" they said. And they were 100% right.

From the moment you step into the lobby, you feel like you've been transported into a whimsical, colorful world. You really have to see their lobby, even if you're not staying at the hotel -- I recommend you pop in for a peak.

The rooms are all different, all unique. Each has different vibrant colors. My bed had a zebra-striped headboard. The hotel staff is excellent, very friendly. And they are very welcoming to pets. I love this hotel.

If you are into unique design I highly recommend this as the most interesting hotel in SF. If you are on a bit more of a budget, you should check out The Commodore (which also has an interesting colorful lobby, but is a bit less posh than the Triton).

Hip and close to Square
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/2005
The Hotel Triton is one of those hotels that if you stay there you will always remember the experience....its unique style blends well with providing a comfortable place to stay. I don't know where to start raving about it: the lobby and room decor are great, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the afternoon happy hour and evening fresh cookies are lovely. A great sense of humor runs throughout the property. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys something different and who has a good sense of humor..

Can't miss it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/2005
One of my favorite spots to shop in S.F. is the area around Union Square. I often stop for a coffee break at the cute corner Cafe de la Presse. Hotel Triton is the attached hotel, and it's pretty impossible to miss if you walk by it. Crazy, colorful fun-house furniture sits right out in front and makes you think: what is going on in there?

So, I decided the next time I came to S.F., I would check it out. I doubt I'll stay anywhere else again! For the price, the style, service, and location is pretty much unbeatable. It's not a luxury hotel, but there are some luxury amenities, like Aveda bath products and a free wine reception every night, and decor is several steps up from your average bland chain hotel. The location is incredible, right across from the entrance to Chinatown, close to the Union Square shops, and within walking distance (wear sneakers) to places like the Metreon and SFMOMA. Or, just hop on the Muni a few blocks away and see S.F. like a local.

Although I don't have the guts (or inclination) to try it, they have a wild "So hip it hurts" package that comes with a free tattoo or body piercing. Only in S.F.!
