No comparison

The Olympic was the best hotel in the region when it was the Four Seasons, and it's even better now as the Fairmont. At the height of the travel season, rates are high, so try off-season. The service at the hotel, its restaurants (I like Shucker's best), and all the shops (especially the Jeremy Todd spa--wow) is the best anywhere. Much more friendly and personal than you might expect. Tremendous concierge staff, too. We had our wedding there and were amazed at how much care was in every detail. HIGHLY recommend Topper's, the hotel florist.

A great high-end hotel
By David, 06/06/2005
I agree with the last comment -- this place is even a little better now than when it was a Four Seasons. (The only downside is that it's expensive.) This place is every bit as nice as the Grand Hyatt, probably better. If you're visiting Seattle, the location can't be beat either -- everything downtown is a short walk, and Pike St. Market is 5 blocks away.

Little things that impressed me:
- ice already in my ice bucket
- a little card on my pillow telling me it would be 57 degrees tomorrow
- Free valet
- Free postcards

The basics are all there: safe in the room, free internet, etc. The service is great, and there are a number of great places to eat within a couple blocks (Shucker's, in the hotel, is supposed to be great, and The Brooklyn, our favorite all-time restaurant, is 2 blocks away).

Fairmont is the same company that owns the Plaza Hotel in NYC (did you see Home Alone?), and the experience they try to create is similar here. A nice way to stay in Seattle, if you've got the bucks.

Impeccable service, unmatched ambience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/2005
My family stayed in the Fairmont Olympic over New Year's Eve/Day 2002-2003. We lived in Bothell at the time, but we wanted to enjoy the festivities of downtown Seattle and stay in the immediate in a nice hotel, and the Olympic was the perfect choice.

Our party of our had two rooms. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the bathrobes and towels luxuriously thick and soft. The hotel's wraparound shape meant our view was of the western wing of the building.

The hotel's public spaces are beautifully decorated, and the staff was endlessly helpful. We noticed the towel rack in one room's bathroom was detached from the wall at one end. A brief call to the front desk and a maintenace worker appeared a few minutes later. He was friendly and efficient, fixed the rack in no time and checked all the other fixtures to make sure everything else was just so.

The hotel's central downtown location made it easy for us to get anywhere on foot, and the valets were wonderfully helpful with directions and suggestions for events and activites.

Easily among the top three hotel experiences I've had in my entire life.

lives up to the Fairmount standard
By Ann, 06/06/2005
Loved our stay at the Fairmount Olympic. The service really stood out - very helpful staff. The rooms were lovely and well-maintained. Overall, a great stay for what you'd expect at a Fairmount.

Beautiful, Intimate Hotel with Astounding Food
By sterling, 06/06/2005
From the moment you step in the beautiful lobby, welcomed by the friendly staff and are seen to your room, you feel like you have stepped into a beautiful sanctuary worthy of taking your eyes off the natural beauty outside. The well appointed rooms are classy and immaculate. The staff friendly and oh-so-accommodating. But the absolute best part about the Olympic is the dining experience in the renowned Georgian Room. This spectacular setting is ideal for a fairytale wedding or a speacial dinner for two. While the surroundigs are formal the waitstaff make you feel relaxed enough to enjoy every aspect of this indulgent experience. Head chef and pastry chef duo create an absolutely sublime experience not to be forgotten.
