Housed inside the Russian Academy of Arts, the museum was founded in 1758, with collections donated by Catherine the Great, Count Besborodko and French sculptor Falconet. This is the oldest art museum in Russia and occupies three floors of the concentric 'Circulum' building. Paintings, sculptures, mosaics, antique models, art replicas and statues share space within. Art by Delacroix, Rousseau, Bruni, Rubens and Moderatti are displayed in lobbies, staircases and halls of the building.
