Quality and luxury meets Aussie charm!
The Sheraton on the Park is as grand as the name suggests without the snob factor which so many 5 star hotels seem to suffer from. Checking in with shorts and a t-shirt within the impressively massive lobby, gave me an initial feeling of embarrassment, but as the front desk handed me my key to an executive suite, with the warmth normally associated with the Aussies, you could not help but relax. The doorman had already grabbed my bags out of the cab before I had a chance to look for someone, and before I knew it he was giving me an overview of the hotel amenities and an offer of booking me into the restaurant.
The room was large and clean with a lounge area, study area and sliding doors into an all marble bathroom. The Sheraton Sleeper bed was large and comfy and the view from my room alone justified the rather large price tag.
The location is just slightly off the main hub of the city on Elizabeth street, so for those wishing to stay more centrally, then the Marriot seems to be where it's all at, although in comparison it feels like a 3 star!
If you stay in executive floors, then you also have the benefit of using the Executive lounge on the top floor - free food and drink and a waiter service to make most luxury restaurants feel like McDonalds!
All in all a great stay and the feeling of style and quality was balanced by the warmth of the Aussie charm - top marks!
