Description

Located in Tata near the shore of the Öreg-tó, Esterházy Castle was built around 1760. It has been the location of several historical events: the signing of the Schönbrunn Peace Contract, the residence of Hungarian King Ferenc during his reign, and the residence of Generals Windisch-Grätz and Haynau during the freedom fight. The building is now handled by the National Memorial Guardian Office.
