Our first day in Hong Kong has been busy. We went to Hong Kong Island and walked for miles. All up hill too. We were trying to find the longest escalator in the world - we did and it was nothing special, a little bit boring if I'm honest, but finding it was fun.
The Peak Tour was ace!
It was quite scary going up on the tram and the skyscrapers looked as if they are leaning in due to the angle at which we were going up the mountain. When we got to the top the clouds had covered the view! We had a photograph super imposed onto a backdrop of the skyscrapers. Sods law that when we got to the bottom the cloud cleared. I did get to eat a burger king in the clouds though. We also vistied the botanical gardens, SoHo and BoHo.
I was so tired when we got home that I went to bed and woke up at 1.30pm unable to sleep, sO we went out for a few beers as Hong Kong never sleeps. On the was home at 4am there was a amazing thunder storm.
I tried fresh squid and fish balls they were awful!
Yesterday I was poorly sick!!!! I spent most of the day in bed, but dragged myself out for the symphony of lights. It was absolutly brilliant! Basically music is played and all the buildings light up to it, it was fantastic.
"This spectacular multimedia display, already named the “World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show” by Guinness World Records, has been further expanded to include 43 buildings on both sides of Victoria Harbour.
We have also been to see a 4 D movie and to the night market.
Over the last few days we have done everything left to do in Hong Kong. On Monday we went back over to Hong Kong Island to see the racecourse and then had a meal on the famous floating Chinese restaurant. I order chicken, and it came just as that, with a head, beak and brains! I still ate it , but not the head of course.
Yesterday we visited Macau which was very different from Hong Kong. Alot more laid back. We visited the casinos, St. Austine Square and the famous statue of the goddess A -
Ma .
I considered doing a bungee jump from the top of Macua Tower, but decided to wait until New Zealand as it is bigger and I had a skirt on.
Hotel so nice.We spent most of our time shopping , and at Night Market, got souvenir items much cheaper...i want to see Hk again next time...
