Day One
Arrive in Melbourne from the UK. This city takes its food seriously and there are lots of top restaurants to dine in. Spend the day getting lost in the laneways of Melbourne that are home to fabulous cafes and gorgeous boutiques. If you’re in to coffee, join one of the city walking tours where you learn about the history of Melbourne’s famed coffee culture, stopping off at some of the best coffee houses in Australia.
If you’re a Neighbours fan, the pilgrimage to Ramsay Street on a Neighbours Tour is great fun. If you time your visit right, you can even attend a Neighbours Night where you get to meet cast members!
Take a behind the scenes tour at one of the world’s most hallowed sporting grounds – the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and check out the Melbourne Museum, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
Take a trip out to Phillip Island, home to the fairy penguins. Join a guided tour with a penguin ranger to learn more about these fascinating creatures. It’s worth spending a night here.
Enjoy one of the lovely island walks before heading back to Melbourne. The nightlife is excellent - from comedy clubs to quirky cocktail bars, from theatres to dance parties, there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
Just time for some last minute shopping, a trip to the beach or a cruise along the river before flying to Sydney.
Start exploring Sydney and head to Darling Harbour where you can soak up the sun while eating al fresco at one of the amazing restaurants in the area.
Walk to Circular Quay to take in the spectacular views of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Take a ferry across the Harbour to Taronga Zoo, where the animals have the most amazing views over the water.
Take to the skies with a scenic flight over the city in either a helicopter or a seaplane. It’s a spectacular way to see Sydney.
Hire a car and travel south past Wollongong to beautiful Kiama where you can stop off for lunch. Continue along the coastline, meandering through lovely seaside towns and past gorgeous beaches. Arrive at Jervis Bay in time for a swim before spending the night here.
Jervis Bay is home to a resident pod of dolphins, so make sure you take a morning cruise to see them. You may also see some whales during their migration down the coast. A visit to the Booderee National Park is also worth a visit.
Drive back up to Sydney taking in the stunning south coast scenery en route. Leave the hire car at the airport before flying home.
