If you are looking for the perfect vacation then this is the place to go… Positano is a small piece of heaven located in the south of Italy , the food, the scenery and the weather is just beyond perfection. We started our holiday by taking a short BA flight from Gatwick to Naples where we rented a car and drove directly to Positano. Finding our gorgeous hotel was a bit of a struggle however it was well worth it. Albergo Miramare is a quaint hotel situated in a small street in Positano, our room was a bit small but it had a large terrace with breathtaking views. The best thing about the hotel is probably the staff, Rosita was extremely helpful with every issue we had and the rest of the staff was just as nice and willing to help. On our first day we arrived to the hotel extremely tired and hungry after a long day of travelling. Rosita was kind enough to send us a wonderful plate of prosciutto and cheese to our room and so we sat on the terrace and enjoyed the food and the magnificent views. Later that day we strolled down the beach and had dinner in an extremely touristic restaurant which is not worth mentioning.
On our second day we started off by going to the main beach (Spiaggia Grande) where we caught some sun for a few hours. In the afternoon I surprised my boyfriend with a boat trip that Rosita organised for us. Cassiopea is the company which operates the boat trips and our Captain was Stefano who was charming and delightful. He took us around the islands for a 2.5 hour trip during sunset with a short break where we had champagne and cheese. Following our remarkable boat ride we went to eat at Le Terraze Lounge, a very posh restaurant where we experienced some fancy local dishes.
On our third day as usual we started off by going to the beach only this time we went to a much smaller more secluded beach (Spiaggia di Fornillo) the good thing about this particular beach was that is was a bit quieter and cheaper, 5Euro PP as appose to 10Euro PP. after sunbathing and enjoying the freezing water we started our journey towards Ravello and on the way we stopped to eat at a cute restaurant called La taverna del Leone which is situated on the road around 4 KM away from Positano. The food was sophisticated and extremely delicious; I definitely recommend the spinach salad that is just full of surprises… After a very long winding drive along the coast we arrived to Ravello and our first stop was at the Villa Rufolo. I only heard a bit about this place before but I must say that it has to be one of the most glorious places on earth. When I walked into the garden I think I missed a beat, the views are spectacular and it will probably be unfair for me to
describe it because you really just have to be there to understand. Following our visit to the Villa we then strolled down the streets of Ravello where we simply discovered this charming village. We then drove back to Positano and took Stefano’s advice and went to eat at Lo Guarracino, and guess what it was the perfect meal!!! Rennata and the staff were so nice and they just made us feel like we were eating at their house, just like we were part of the family. Another perfect ending to a perfect day!
On our fourth day, again…. We went to Spiaggia di Fornillo beach and after that we drove to Sorrento . Sorrento was a bit different from what I expected since it’s not as small and quaint as the other places we visited but it was well worth the visit. We started our journey by sitting at a fancy hotel where we had wine in front of the beautiful views of the bay. Following that we strolled along the alleys and just soaked up the atmosphere, we then arrived to the main road where I shopped till I dropped… I strongly recommend a store called Vanna. After Sorrento we went to eat AGAIN at Lo Guarracino and again we had a lovely time.
On our final day we wanted to enjoy Positano as much as possible so we started our day by going to Spiaggia Grande and then we had our final meal at Café Positano which is situated in front of the bay and serves wonderful food. We then strolled along the streets and went into Galleries and stopped for a killer Mango Daiquiri in the beautiful Le Sirenuse hotel. Our trip ended with a perfect cappuccino in front of the perfect view at our perfect hotel.
Thank you.
