Crete is the largest of the Greek islands, with a different resort for everyone's tastes. The people are very friendly, and host an island with great weather at very reasonable prices.

Crete has changed so much during the last two decades. The population of this island is gradually changing with the influx of people from the states in dissolution named bulgaria, romania etc. However Crete still remains a friendly place to visit especially during low season where the fever of the summer is slowing down and the locals are more relaxed and forthcoming. We thought of finding small islands to see during our next trip.Would someone be kind enough to recommend any of those islands near crete?

I have been to several greek islands but have lived permanently on zakynthos for the last 11 years. I have noted a lot of changes over the years and although it is a beautiful island it's definately not what it used to be. Although there is always lots of new buildings being erected, apartments etc. there are not so many british tourists coming here now, the main tourists are from czec republic, romania, poland etc. also a holiday here can be quite expensive now to what it used to be. however I'm moving back to uk to be with my children and grandchildren and taking 3 stray cats with me. so if anyone comes here on holiday I hope they have a good time.

Sounds good, must try it. I've stayed in Poros and in Athens and enjoyed both. Went to Bulgaria and India last year, and this year will be my first trip to Portugal.
