Crete is the largest of the Greek islands, with a different resort for everyone's tastes. The people are very friendly, and host an island with great weather at very reasonable prices.
Our first Greek Island holiday was to Crete. We stayed in apartments called Angel outside Gerani. We had a fantastic holiday although it was only a week. We have since been to Thassos, Rhodes, Corfu, Zante and Cyprus. Stayed outside Limmasol on Cyprus, not very impressed with the resort but had a wonderful hotel, onoy been open a couple of months when we went. Thassos is our favourite Greek island, Corfu our lest favourite. Stayed in Acharvie, didn't like this resort or Roda and Sidari Found a wonderful bar in Acharavie though 'Panda Bar'. The owner was a Belgium lady, she was really friendly and made us feel welcome. We went in this bar every night.
Crete is gorgeous, I stayed in Stalis on my 1st trip, wasnt the biggest of resorts it has to be said-mainly self catering, but if comfort is your thing then you should pay a little more and stay in one of the 4 or 5 star hotels- you will have a great time. I stayed in Agios Nikolaos 2nd time round which was really good, lots of little shops, places to eat etc and I highly recommend a visit to Knossos-ancient ruins - not far from Heraklion airport, entry is really cheap only about 6euros. I love Greece.
