This sounds like a perfect alternative to the usual Spain or Greece for the summer holidays.

I have always wanted to go to Poland but have never really thought that I would enjoy myself. Judging by the sounds of things I think I will think about it next time I holiday :)

Having lived in Poland for two years - I can thoroughly recommend it as a beautiful place to visit. There are many interesting places and seaside resorts, not so well known as Kracow and Warsaw. We stayed in Szczecin, north west of Warsaw, on the River Odra - the location for the final of the Tall Ships race this year. Fantastic shopping, restaurants, people, architecture. December is a particularly lovely time to visit - buying unusual decorations and where the Christmas season does not begin until after 1st December! New Year is wonderful too - I thought the Scots knew how to enjoy New Year. They have nothing on the Polish people! Check out a map for seaside locations north of Szczecin, on the Baltic (and it isn't that cold in summer).
