Perfect holiday destination if you enjoy staying at the campsite. Also mecca for windsurfers. Hel can be easily reached by water tram from the Tri-City area.
Gdansk is great. Poland is coming up fast. Lots of people(not old ones) speak english and people are well behaved, say no to a beggar and he smiles and walkes on. The local food is not to everyones liking but you can always find something you will like. Buses and trains are cheap but queing is not a Polish past time. when your bus comes push forwards with every one else. Lots to see and if you have time take a bus to Stutthof Museum (concentration camp), a reminder of Polands terrible past. The countyside is great, beer fantastic(app£1/pint)and the people wonderful. A fantastic place for a good weekend or a layed back holiday. Go now before Poland joins the real world and learns to squeeze every zloty out of you.
Definately recommended trip! It' s not only cheap but really warm as well at summer time. A special atmosphere and landscapes too. I used to spend every summer at polish Baltic when I was little. Welcome!;)
i live there (gdynia) where the festival is ,it is great but i prefer during oter times of the year not summer the beach is empty,a.nd Baltic at it glory
Worked in Gdansk a couple of years ago, and loved every minute, friendly people. good beer ect ect. I promised myself that I would go back, and that's what I'm doing fot next years holiday.
I have visited Gdynia and Sopot many times and have always enjoyed, the beach in Sopot is absolutely beautiful and also the pier is one of the longest in Europe. Gdansk is also very beautiful with the Gothic Architecture, I have now visited Poland 7 times and will definately go back. Do not worry about the food, most menu's are also in english, but I would recommend trying Polish. I am sure you will visit again
