Oh!! Déja Vu!
I almost forgot what it was like growing up in Kenya! That is what we did for our school trips - i.e. the safaris!!
Excellent review as well! Infact, it's like I've never been there! I'm definitely booking a holiday there soon.

hello my name is samantha martin and i went on that very same safari last year it was absulotly brilliant my mum kissed a giraffe on the lips and i huged a ryno it was very scary because i though he was going to hart me, we went round in a group and one member of the group got chased by a hippo at the hotel we went to,
i think that that was a very good holiday but i really dont want to go on it again

My parents are from East Africa and Kenya is a beautiful country with such lovely people. Masai Mara is something i would recommend anyone to go on as it really is an adventure and something different! I was only 13 at the time when i went but i had such an amazing time and it really is fun with the family!

Thanks for the pics and the story; brought back memories and made me green with envy. I am a kenyan and agree that this places are great. Actually I met my husband for the first time at the Mara, and we went to Sun and Sand for part of our honeymoon... Kenya is a great place to take a holiday, so keep coming as this also boosts our economy. For those comparing our roads to the M25....!!; our facilities aint perfect but we are slowly getting there. This should not deter you from planning a holiday to Kenya, you will love it.

This looks a like a fantastic trip, I would love to visit Kenya. Have a few questions that I wonder if you could answer - am new to this site so not sure how you can post questions. Can anyone tell me if there is scuba diving in Kenya? Are the injections essential - I'm terrified of needles! How dangerous is it in terms of the fact you are living in a tent close to all those dangerous animals? Do you have to check out of your hotel whilst on safari? If so what happens to your luggage?

I HAVE JUST COME BACK FROM kENYA 3 MONTHS AGO AND ALTHOUGH I AGREE WITH SOME OF THE REPORTS MADE THERE ARE SOME I WOULD DISSAGREE WITH WHEN WE DECIDED TO GO TO KENYA WE HAD NO IDEA JUST HOW MUCH IT WAS GOING TO COST YES FIRST WE HAD TO GET VACCINES WHICH CONSISTED OF LARIUM OR MEFLIQUINE WHICH IS SUPOSSED TO BE THE FRONT LINER IN COMBATING MALERIA AND IN TOTAL COSTS A £100 THEN YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR BOOSTERS IN POLIO,TETNUS,DIPTHERIA,HEPATITUS,A YES TESES ARE FREE FROM YOUR GP BUT YOU ALSO NEED YOUR YELLOW FEVER WHICH COSTS £90 AND THATS BEFORE YOU APPLY FOR YOUR VISAS FROM THYE KENYAN HIGH COMMISION IN LONDON
OUR FLIGHT LEFT GLASGOW TO AMSTERDAM THEN ONTO MOMBASA WHILE IN AMSTERDAM WE WERE TRANSFERRED TO A HUGE JUMBO JET WHERE MOST OF US HAD A ROW OF SEATS TO OURSELVES AND ALL THE SNACKS,DRINKS ANYTHING WE WANTED AT ANY TIME WE WANTED IT EVEN OUR MEALS WRE WITH PROPER CUTLERY.WHEN WE ARRIVED IN NAIROBIWE WERE TAKEN STRAIGHT THROUGH TO GET OUR LUGGAGE TO GO AC ROSS THE ROAD TO BOARD A FKIGHT OF 1 HOUR TO MOMBASA NO LONG QUE.S IT THEN COST 60 KENYAN SHILLINGS FOR A TAXI TO OUR RESORT WHICH I MAY ADD AND PLEASE TAKE NOTE PPL THAT OUR 4 OR 5 OR EVEN 6 STAR ACCOMM IS NOT THE SAME STANDARDS AS THEIRS.
OUR ACCOMM WAS ON THE BEACH IT LOOKED VERY NICE WE HAD SECRITY GUARDS EVERYWHERE AND WHEN WE WENT TO THE BEACH WHICH WAS WHERE THE BAR WAS THE BEACH BOYS WERE THERE AND THEY GAVE YOU NO REST UNTIL YOU CHATTED WITH THEM, IN THE RESORT THE MANAGEMENT ADVISES YOU NOT TO GO WITH THEM, WELL ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT WITH THESE BOY WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND WE FELT VERY SAFE WITH THEM AND PROTECTED TO.
WHEN YOU ARE IN ANY PART OF AFRICA IT CAN BE A VERY VOLATILE PLACE TO BE AND TO GO THERE UNDER ANY OTHER MISSCONCEPTION IS SHEER MADNESS YOU HAVE TO BE WARY AT ALL TIMES, YES YOU FIND THAT PPL SHOUT JAMBO AND HAKUNA MATATA BUT AT THE SAME TIME YOU HAVE PPL BEGGING FROM YOU, CHILDREN RUNNING WITH THE VECHICLE THAT YOUR IN AT THAT TIME, CHILDREN WHO HAVE NOT HAD A MEAL FOR SUCH A LONG TIME, CHILDREN WHO HAVE NO CLOTHES TO WEAR AND NO FRESH WATER TO DRINK THEY SLEEP,LIVE UNDER TREES LARGE PLANTS AND ANY OTHER COVER THEY CAN FIND,
WHAT YOU DONT KNOW BEFORE YOU GO IS THE HARDSHIP THAT THESE PPL ARE UNDER YOU CANT DESCIBE THE POVERTY YOU SEE WHEN YOU GET THERE THE CLOTHES THAT WE SEND FREE ARE SOLD AT THE PORT AT LEAST 3 TIMNES THEY ARE THEN TAKEN TO SOMETHING LIKE OUR FLEE MARKETS AND SOLD AGAIN STREET TRADERS BUY WHAT THEY CAN AND GO TO THE VILLAGES AND SELL THE CLOTHES ON WITH A FURTHER TAX OF 50% ITS AN ABSOLUTE DISGACEAND NO-ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT,NOT SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO BE NOW IS IT.
AS FOR THE RESORTS ITSELF THEY TELL YOU THAT THEY SUPPLY FRESH WATER TO THE VILLAGES WELL THATS A LIE THEY TAKE THE LAND THAT THE VLLAGERS HAVE AND BUILD NEW RESORTS ON THEM FORCEING THE VILLAGERS TO MOVE BACK INTO THE JUNGLE TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES THEY HAVE NO MONEY ,YOU TRY EATING A THREE COURSE MEAL AND WATCH THE HUNGRY MOUTHS AROUND YOU IF IT DOES NOT AFFECT YOU THEN YOUR NOT HUMAN,
GETTING BACK TO THE BEACH BOYS THEY ORGANISED OUR SAFARI TRIP FOR US AGAIN YOUR FEELING SCEPTCAL BUT WHEN YOU GO ON SAFARI WITH THEM IT IS UNBELIEVEABLE YOU ARE TAKEN TO THE BIG GAME RESERVES YOU STAY IN LODGES THAT ARE FIRST CLASS THE WILD LIFE IS AT YOUR FEET OR SIDE BY SIDE THE VOI MASAI MARA AND THE SERENGETTI IS MAGICAL I URGE PPL WHO GO ON SAFARI TO KENYA TO REMEMBER THAT THESE PPL ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES YES YOU DO FEEL VERY HUMBLE WHEN YOU SEE THE LIFESTYLES THEY HAVE.
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD THAT AT THE TIME WE WERE ON HOLIDAY AND AT THE RESORT WE STAYED IN THERE WERE SO MANY DIFFERENT SKILLED PPL THERE THAT COULD HAVE HELPED IF THEY ONLY HAD THE TOOLS AT HAND ie BUILDERS ELECTRICIANS A PLASTIC SURGEON 2 NURSES AT LEAST 5 DOCTORS 2 TEACHERS COMPANY DIRECTORS STUDENTS PLUMBERS RESEARCH OFFICERS THEY WERE INTERESTED IN HELPING CHILDREN WITH AIDS BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PROBLEMS AROUND THESE PPL AND THE ONES I HAVE MENTIONED WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY TO HAPPY TO HAVE HELPED WHILE ON THEIR HOLIDAYS SO I URGE YOU WHEN YOU ARE IN AFRICA ITS NOT ALL SUN SEA SAND PLEASE TAKE CARE AND TAKE SOME ANTIHISTIMINES, PAINKILLERS, ANTIEMETICS ie SICKNESS TABLETS, ANTISEPTIC CREAM, PLASTERS,AND CLEAN DRESSINGS,THE VILLAGERS ASK FOR EYEOINTMENT BUT THAT IS UP TO YOURSELVES THERE ARE THINGS THERE THAT BITE YOU AND YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IT UNTIL IT SWELLS UP AND YOUR IN A LOT OF PAIN ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY BUT JUST BE WARY FOR YOUR OWNSAKES PLEASE.
