Shopping
Notes
Opening hours: 9am - 9pm

Although this six-story market is overwhelmingly touristy (and therefore overpriced, even with bargaining), it is filled with everything imaginable – clothing, souvenirs, jewelry, electronics, and fabrics – each with its own section. Be prepared for loud and pushy sellers who are accustomed to dealing with foreigners.

Sanlitun 三里屯
58 Gongti Beilu, Chaoyang District
朝阳区工体北路58号

Yes, it’s overrun by free spending tourists, but Yaxiu is an unavoidable fixture in the life of a serious shopper. It has a good selection of "brand-name" underwear, jeans, jackets, shoes, sports equipment, bags and souvenirs. Don’t forget to bargain ruthlessly. Some of the tailors on the third floor have a large following, as does the Creative Nail Beauty Salon on the fourth floor.

Da Dong’s reputation was built on its original Tuanjiehu branch, but the newer Nanxincang spot adds decorative class to the classic Da Dong ducks (RMB 198-218), which have a reputation for being among the very best in the city. Voted "Best Beijing Duck" and "Best Chinese Restaurant of the Year" in our 2008 Reader Restaurant Awards
