In 2008 we were lucky enough to be invited to a friend's wedding in beautiful Cornwall. We had a marvellous stay but, unfortunately, we had to leave on my birthday.
On the way home, we popped into Looe and were surprised and delighted to find the Festival of the Sea in progress.
There were loads of stalls selling all sorts of local produce. I had mixed fish goujons, my husband had a delicious cake, we both had some yummy ice cream and we took lots of cider and wine home for friends and family (but mainly for ourselves).
Needless to say, our brief visit turned into a very long day and, although I was sorry to leave Cornwall on my birthday, my favourite experience during that day was a trip on an old wooden lifeboat around St Georges Island. We saw a seal (locally named Looe Seal - think about it) and the captain of the boat was a very friendly and entertaining chap.
I understand that there is another Food Festival in Looe during November 2009. We will, of course, be visiting again but this time we will stay for at least a fortnight!
